Week Twenty Five

Day One Hundred and Sixty Nine – Monday 19th August 2013

I am very happy; I had no new spots in week 23 and no new spots in week 24!
Feeling positive and feeling excited that this is it!
No more spots and nice new skin!

The side effects are still up and down which has to be expected while I am still taking the tablets. My feet have been sore yesterday and today. I do forget that the skin on my feet is thin and fragile too, like the rest of my body, yet each time I do more walking than usual I wonder why they hurt so easily and so quickly! It is strange how Roaccutane can become part of your life so quickly and you do learn to live with the different changes. The skin around my ear-ring is bad again, sore and peeling. Today I have also suffered with my skin on my forearms and lower legs being sore, grazed and peeling. It does hurt where bits of the top layer of skin do come off. I put some Hydromol ointment in a nice hot bath tonight and had a nice soak which has helped.

I am wondering if I will be able to use the Hydromol cream after I have finished my treatment? I am guessing that my skin should not be so dry afterwards and will not need such a hydrating moisturiser. I wonder what I can use instead that will work just as well?

Day One Hundred and Seventy Five – Sunday 25th August 2013

Feeling really happy that I have got to the end of my third week with no new spots! Feeling really excited that today we are going to Whittlebury Hall Health Spa! It is going to do my skin so much good and make me feel lovely. It’s a shame that I’ve still got dry patches and scabs on my arms and legs but do you know what, compared to some of the days I have had over the last six months, it doesn’t matter.

I have got 3 weeks supply of Isotretinoin tablets left so I don’t think I will actually collect my next prescription from the hospital. I’ve just passed 3 full weeks spot free and if you add the next 3 weeks that makes 6. I would be happy to stop then because my dermatologist wanted me spot free for a month and if I do 6 weeks I would be confident that I would be cured for good!

Hi, I suffer with acne around my chin area and is extremely painful, it is not severe but I am never without big pustules. As soon as they go I wake up with more and dread waking up looking in the mirror. When at their worse I have no confidence walk with my head down and avoid talking to people, they make me feel dirty and disgusting. Having tried all over the counter remedies and tetracycline nothing has worked. I have now made an appointment with a dermatologist next week in the hope he will give me roaccutane. I have researched the drug and it has frightened me, however after reading your experience this has made me feel a bit more relaxed, thanks will let you know how I get on

      Hi Caroline,
Thank you for your kind words and I am glad that reading my experience has helped put your mind at rest. Do keep in touch and let me know how you got on at your dermatology appointment. Are you now taking Roaccutane?
